This is my first post, but I have used this site for help and advice many times-Thanks to everyone.Yesterday I was changing oil, when I removed the filter the relief valve in the oil filter housing droped out.I replaced the spring, fiber disc and restaked the washer the best I could.I think to fix it right I should replace the housing. My question is has anyone else had this problem, and if and when I replace the housing does the oil cooler and block heater come with it?Thanks

I believe those parts are all separate. Others have restaked the piece without a problem so you should be fine. The newer ones have a snap ring to hold it together.

I was just wondering, what would happen if this wasnt installed correctly, my friend said his came out and he just stuck it all back in there and it looked right, but the track has been running fine, would this cause any damage without knowing. I mean wouldnt the gauge tell you something is wrong if it wasnt working correctly.

You wouldn't be able to tell by the gauge. Oil analysis would show the contaminants in the oil rising rapidly. There is a TSB on the relief valve falling out. I don't have it handy but I believe it shows the proper order of parts reassembly. If you do replace the housing, it is just the end the oil filter attaches to. You'll want to replace the oil cooler o-rings while you're in there. The new style the check valve is held in with a clip.
Thanks for the info.I think I will change oil again soon and see how the valve looks.I think the washer that I staked in will stay in place, but the fiber disc would stick open sometimes when I checked it-maybe it always did this-I never had a reason to check it before.

I have about 80k on a staked oil valve. Works for me.

It is said if you sit by the river and watch the water flow by long enough, your enemies will pass by. This I believe to be true. It is also possible to watch your loved ones pass by as well.

The new filter adapter header with the snap ring retained valves is about $150. Staking the old parts back in is fine as long as you have all the parts (spring, disk, washer). Cheers!
