Poor Fuel Economy - Diesel Forum

I have 3.55's in my truck and under normal driving conditions around my town, im lucky to get 13mpg. I do have 285's, but i wouldn't think that would make me have such poor economy. A friend has 4.10's and he says he can get about 17 doing the same route i do every day. My fuel filter was just replaced and my air cleaner is clean. Is there anything that could be causing this, or is it just a fact of my engine. Thanks for any assistance.

13 in town is about all I get with 4.10s on a 95 cc dually with 175,000. Out of town at 60 mph I can get 16 but thats it. No tuner here, just tymar and 4' exhaust.

My 96 w 3:55's went from 17 down to 13-14mpg. I cleaned the FPR screen and changed the CPS and its back up to around 17 again. May be worth a try.
