powersteering pump ?

Looks like the powersteering pump is going so i'm gonna replace it before it goes out completely. I understand that I need to pull the pully off. Is it pressed back on?

fordmedic - Yup; the pulley is pressed back on. It's kind of a tight fit for the remover between the pulley shaft and the fan shroud. Or at lease it was on mine. I had to change the power steering pump when I converted to Hydroboost and I think I removed the power steering pump bracket with the pump still attached to make it easier.

Cheers from Claremore, OK!
Dave

How do you know when a pump is starting to go? Three months ago I had a hard line with a bad flare pop-off two miles and five turns from home, no doubt I pumped all the fluid out, those trucks are hard to turn with no power btw. Got a new line from O'Reily and some fluid, back on the road in an hour. My fluid is at the mark but I hear howling and growling and feel vibrations in the wheel synchronized with the sounds. Do I need to shop for a pump or wait till it gets worse? I like to repair things on my own time 'cause if its gonna go, its gonna go on a Saturday night.

If it's howling and growling I would replace it before a sat night. I just did the AZ i think it was 49.99 with a 15.00 core return. If you need any help let me know. Buena Park is local.
