Has anyone been able to pull the oil pan out without pulling the motor completely out? I thought I remembered reading about someone doing it but cannot find the thread.
If I remember correctly to pull the pan without pulling the engine you need to remove the cross member that is under the pan and is riveted in.
could you get it out by pulling the tranny out??

I haven't done it but otheres have. You will need to grind the heads off of them and then use a punch to remove the rivet. Then to put it back together all I would use is some grade 8 bolts.

I have had no luck finding the mythical 2 piece oil pan. I have looked for 3 days and found nothing. Hmmm the cross member removal could be intriguing anyone done or have a link on it?
I wonder if one should tack weld the frame together before cutting loose the crossmember? Do you think anything would shift?
Another question, this two piece (described as mythical) oil pan deal, easy enough to see how it would go up....but how would you get the installed pan off?

you could cut the pan into when it is bolted to the block, with air saw and when it is out weld flanges on it if you screwed up it would only cost you a pan
