Quick, help! Surging while driving

I was just driving home, and after I turned the corner at idle, my truck surged up and down three times than stopped doing it, now it seems fine, RPMs went from idle to 1500 or so just up and down, really strange, PCM or something? Anybody have any ideas???

Are you running a chip? A loose chip could cause that. I'd also check your valve cover harness connectors for a burnt pin. Those things are pretty easy without tearing into much.

Re: Quick, help! Surging while driving

I`m not sure why my truck info didnt come across in the first post, my truck has the hypertech programer, just did the glow plugs a couple of months ago, gaskets looked fine, not doing it now, just that one time, but it makes me nervous, I dont want it doing it when I really need the truck and when its not close to home.

Re: Quick, help! Surging while driving

My truck did the exact same thing a couple of weeks ago. I had a couple of other symtoms, indicating my alternator was going south. Had the batteries checked they were ok, the alternator was checked also, showed it was charging fine at the time, but an error came out on the tester that the diodes were going out. They gave me a "new" rebuilt one, put it on and it has been fine ever since. I had it checked at Auto Zone. Good luck

Re: Quick, help! Surging while driving

it check your battery connections real good. if ya got a battery thats going south on you and internally shorting out that will do it.

is the tach acting normal?

what does the voltmeter do when it does this?

Re: Quick, help! Surging while driving

Re: Quick, help! Surging while driving

I just put two brand new batteries, new GPR as well, could it be the CPS? it didnt do it today on the way to work at all, I will have to see if it shot any codes when I get home from work, I`ll double check the voltage and the Tach jumped up and down when it happened, it only lasted about 5 seconds, but my wife was 500 yards away and she heard it. Strange Huh
