remote entry confusion, which one for our years?

Hello All,

Thanks to sage advice from the members here, I realize that I do have factory remote entry.

Now, the ebay jungle has me excited and then not excited, because there are so many ford remote fobs being sold.

Does anyone have a pic of their key fob? Mine's a 97 F250HD.

so many of the ebay auctions don't really know what their remotes go to, or only have numbers that don't mean anything to me.

Several of you have gotten them off ebay, and I'm sure a few of you have some "don't do this" stories, too.

I'm all ears. Countless thanks for all your help these last several months.

Matthew

Groves, I cant answer your question, but would like to know how you deduced it had the remote entry. I have electric locks, but the dealership told me I dont have the provision for keyless . Not that they would know or even looked .

Re: remote entry confusion, which one for our years?

Several Ways: I'm no expert, but here goes.

#1 Look at your window sticker (the one that came with the car on the lot, sometimes it's in the pack with the manuals. Mine said I had it)

#2 Look for the little black box under the dash. There are lots of archived posts about this, but being a simple person, I opted for #3.

#3 Get into the truck and turn the dome light on. Get out of the truck. The light should remain on, but if you have factory keyless entry, it should go out after 45 min or 8 min or something like that. If you don't have factory remote entry, it shouldn't go out until you turn it off.

This is how I found out. Seems simple enough to me.

Now onto the remotes....

Yes, 45 sounds right.

Now, is there a similarly easy way to program the new (used) remote?
