Removed fuel canister and have a question

I am replacing the fuel pump today and was removing the canister per instructions. I decided to take it all the way out for cleaning and checking. Upon removing I found something that looks like it was missing the nut that secured it. I previously had a loss of power followed by death. Hasn't ranked since. So I have found the fpr screen to be thoroughly gunked up and cleaned it, and now the part in the picture may not have even been on the shaft. Can someone school me on what this is and the impact of it not being on the shaft. Haven't puled the pump yet and if I have found other culprits before doing it, that is les work in the long run. As I turned it over, I put a tire gauge on the schradder valve and got nothing for psi is what led me to the fuel pump. But as I said, teh fpr screen was thoroughly clogged up. Also this part may nt have been on the shaft. Not a mechanic, but it looks important to me :-). If someone knows the nut size of the shaft taht would be nice too since the old one is nowhere to be found. Thanks for any help. I am stopping work onthis until I get a better idea of what this is and why it wasn't secured in place.

That is the IPR solenoid and Yes there is a nut that holds it on the shaft of the IPR body. Not sure on the nut size.

And i might be wrong but that spacer in the first pic goes on the other side of the solenoid i believe.

Great thanks for the quick reply. So that would cause truck not to start I would assume. Trying to decide to go ahead and put in the new pump or reassemble and test. I will go get some metrics and check. Looks like maybe an m8 to me. I will get a 6, 8, and 10 with different pitches.

harness and spacer out i believe. Might run a magnet in the valley if you got one handy, might latch on to it.

so is the solenoid part of the ipr and mine just came apart. If so should I go ahead and pull the rest of it from the hpop and put new o-rings in it. That doesn't quite look like what I am looking at but again mine is apart. I see flat edges on the shaft that appears to go into the hpop on the very bottom so it seems it cam come out. Below is a pic of the shaft. Just want to make sure I am on the same page here

So i found some servicing pics. That is definitely it. I will go get the rebuild kit from international and rebuild it since I am in there. I think I will go ahead and replace the fuel pump just to not have to worry about it anymore. Thanks for all the help.

That nut vibrated off and it came apart. With the miles You have on it and since your down there i would probably put new orings on it for the piece of mind.

I would also suck the hpop reservoir dry or the valley will be full of oil. Not necessary but a good idea

The solenoid and spacer slide on that shaft then the nut tightens it down snug, not too tight. When together should look like the last half my posted pic.

Good luck joe, hope it goes smooth.... Your welcome buddy

Here be very careful, you should rotate the crank shaf by hand and see when the pump moves up, and stop there, and take it out carefully, and see that the tappet in the botom of the pump dosnt fall inside, buy your insurance is the movement of the crank. I hope I explained myself.

Got everything together and running with the Forums help, but I have a crack in my fuel bowl near where the FPR is. Does anyone have a good source for one of those so I can replace it. Tks

Powerstrokeshop.com has pretty good prices. Get the whole assembly. It's cheaper in the long run.

I believe that there are a couple on Ebay right now if you care to go that route.
