No one???? I checked the codes and I have a camshaft position sensor inconsitient. Will the cps make it run that bad, It will not even pull itsself in drive... I had one awhile back and the cps just made it idel very rough, It would still go but this truck wont move. Has anyone exprienced a cps just going out like that. Ran fine when I parked it and when I went to start it the next time it never even acted like it was fireing right. THA Chris

Same thing happened to my truck when it was at the body shop. Ran a little rough but not as bad as you describe. I also get the CPS inconsistant code. Must have been a fuel problem cuz it cleared up after a day or two. I've read that diesel fuel breeds algae when it sits too long. Try draining the fuel bowl and taking it for a good run. I have to admit I've been eyeing your truck since you posted it. Looks like my rigs twin.

The code that is coming up now is po 1111 pass 49 state????? What the dose that mean, It still runs like only half the cyl are firing, But when I pull the uvch at the valve cover it kills it. all four plugs kill it so I would assume all are trying to work. I tried to disconnect batt for a while but that did not help any. I will get a cps and try that. Any thoughts Tha Chris

1111 means no system faults detected I believe.

Usually unplugging one harness will not kill it, if all are killing it individually, I think it is a cumulative problem.

did you check the fuel bowl, maybe you have a lot of water in the tanks and sitting for 2 weeks let it settle.

I thought about that, I even thought about someone vandilizeing it and puting something in the tank, But IT never ran right as soon as it fire off it was running like crap, If it was water os sugar or anything I would have thought it would have ran ok for a few minutes before it started runing rough. I have a new CPS so I will try it today. If thats not it will the CPS work on my 03???? THA Chris

Well I pulled the truck up my drive way to flat ground and forced it to go down the road, after about 1/2 mile it started to clear up and it finally came back to life. I guess its trying to tell me to drive her and not sale it. I did not change the cps so I have no idea. Air in the fuel system??? I have no leaks After it cleared up it passesd a cyl cont test. Thanks Chris

Gaducker,

An uneducated guess would be that you may have a high pressure oil pump draining down while sitting for long periods of time. When you start it, air is introduced to the system, and takes a while to work its way out of the system. Just replaced the IPR on my '97, and it ran horrible. I increased the idle speed to about 1500 rpm's for several minutes and when I allowed the engine ot return to normal idle, it sounded much better.
After driving approximately 10 miles, it runs just like it did before, which is very smooth for a diesel.

Well I drove it to work toady and it ran fine for a few minutes and it started doing the same thing after I pulled out of the drive way. It cleared up after about 60 sec and then did it again a few miles down the road but only for about 30 sec. When I push the pedal to the floor and let off it cleard up. I have not put the new cps on yet but thought I would try that today. ant thoughts. I have 700 psi at idel and 2700 when going down the road hp oil that is, But I have not had the scanner hooked up while it was actually acting up. I may have the truck sold today and would like to figure this out before the guy takes the truck any help would be greatly appreicated. THA Chris
