sick 96 f350 pds

I have been fighting my truck for dseveral months with a ilde and hard start after the engine warms up it likes to surge up and down unless you add fuel for 1-2 mins and then it will idle. But the idle likes to bounce up and down about 100 rpms. When cold start it fires right up and idles great after about 10 mins the idle starts to bounce up and down. So far I have been told to change the injector o-rings I did. The the IPR could be falutly changed no help on both parts. NOW suspect the icp but what to know how to test it with out buying a $150 part. A mechanic tiold me to pull the connector of the icp and the pcm should reset and if it chnages it is bad. I pulled the connector of today and the truck just dies? I am so not know what to do next I need a little help from my diesel friends.

Pull the connector off the ICP and look at it. If you see any oil the ICP is baked. The only other way is to put it on a good scanner and monitor HPOP pressure to determine if it is working properly. I would also be looking at fuel pressure / filter issues and possibly HPOP / oil issues. When is the last time you changed the oil ? It could be foaming.

it should run without the icp plugged in, it will default to a preset value. Did you try to start it back up after unplugging the sensor?
