Since everyone has a problem...

Okay so our truck are getting up there in age now. Mine seems to be on the relatively low end with 188K. This site has tons, and I means tons of info and I have absorbed lots of it. Since I purchaced my rig about 3 years ago I have replaced the starter, water pump, exaust, shocks, tires, and grill. I have added a camper shell( from my old f150), and put a more appropriate deck in place.

I still have a fuel leak from the top of the motor, and now a leak coming from the rear fuel tank, and my driver door won't open from the inside. lol. Anyway I was driving a co-worker and myself back to work from lunch, and he complimented how nice my truck looked for being so "old." I then proceeded to pass (safely) a co worker in another vehicle which happens to be a newer GMC sierra. He told me when we got back at work that he wanted to get ahead of me beacuse my truck "stunk." Now I don't have a chip so I don't produce black smoke or anything like that, but we had a good laugh. Another compliment on how my truck "got up and moved."

Moral of the story. I love this "old" thing and plan on keeping it for a long time. My old regret is that it isn't a 4 door. With kids coming into the picture it's been tough. So anyway with all the new stuff coming out I thought I would give a little encouragement. I think about how much I've gotten out of the truck(I'm the second owner) and how little I've paid. Much cheaper than what I would have paid for a newer truck. These things last, and I am pleased everyday when I fire it up. With alll the technology it's nice to fire up my old, loud pickup and head to work.

I just figured I could write something that was different than the usual cries for help. Believe me I have been there, but this is for the rest of us. Enjoy the ride folks.

I agree. My trick is to drive in the right lane and then as soon as the person driving the new whatever thinks their going to pass me i give er a little push on the accelerator and leave em in the dust. I've done while towing to, its funny to see the looks on peoples faces.

I would love a new truck but watching the 6.4 forums along with the price and all the emission crap and the rumors about the new 6.7 it will be a long time before I get rid of my 96. I'll give her a couple of wax jobs a year along with the oil changes and I'm still able to do 90% of what the new ones can do. And with Ford droping the manual tranny for light duty trucks is just another reason to keep my old girl.

The 7.3 Powerstroke was a success and Fudd had to go to another engine! Then ANOTHER one! What's up with that? Pollution? Diesels emit almost NO pollutions and wimpy girly men and their bosses (wives) complain of the "stink" and noise. Well ladies.. it's a DIESEL!!!!!!!! If you want it to smell like your Glade air freshener shove one up your nose and go buy a hybrid kiddy car!

I do wish I had a manual. What a blast that would be. I tow my tow hauler no problem, and just enjoy driving it. The feel of an old truck is so cool.

Love my new to me.....NIT's red truck....and my black '96 is in the end of the yard. While it may not have all the bells and whistles it will whistle if need be...and knowing full well money has to go into it to keep it up.....it's not 50-70K and I get to choose when it gets the dough....Love these trucks....

I'm brand new with my 1996 E350 passenger van with an automatic overdrive E40D and Dana 60, I fell in love instantly. I am now a rich man driving a $50,000 prime time Ford. Even better than the new ones. I too am sticking money into it and happily. The body and handling are also superb. -- I am 64 years old and a professional mechanic and truck driver for 45 years now.

I bought it for $700 with 620,000 miles on it and it runs and drives perfect and the body is also perfect.

I'm one of the ones who needs help when I get into un-chartered territory working on Diesels. Just learned a whole bunch while changing out the fuel pump and starter. The more I learn, the more comfortable I become working and relying on it. That said... I LOVE my Ol' Truck !!! Just seems that the 94's - 97's have that special something to them. As said before, it's great to see peoples reactions when they ride in them or get passed by them !!! All in all... this has been the best truck I have EVER owned Hands Down !!!

Long Live the 94's - 97's !!!
