Some direction on the old crack alot before start problem?
I'm having to do something that I was hoping wouldn't come for a long time. But you can't stop time or rust. I'm putting up my 93 and just put a down payment on a 97 350 PSD with 95000 miles auto XLT 4x4 the truck is very clean and the guy selling it just put in a new starter and had 8 new glow plugs and both wiring harnesses put in a the Ford dealer and a new GPR. The trucks Wait to start light and volt gauge show a draw on the plugs and the starter turns over quickly but it takes about 7 or 8 seconds or revolutions to get it started but after it starts theres no smoke or sputtering it purrs right along it's just the inital start up that's a bit long. One other factor is not been that cold the last 2 times I started it. It's been in the high 30's low 40's.

Sounds like a long time to me, mine starts in about 3 or 4 seconds when cold and in half that time when its up to temp [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif[/img] I would check fuel pressure, hpop pressure. Does it take as long when the engines up to temp?

No after the inital start up it fires right off. I was thinking about 2 things. First is fuel bleed back and 2nd, HPOP draining down. Once I get it home I'm going to check the HPOP res. level after sitting and fuel pressure pick up upon inital start up cranking.

I guess thats not to bad if it fires right up after its warm. Last year mine was taking a little longer to start hot or cold since the batts were original I put new ones in and it got a little better, then I replaced the starter and it was back to normal, it would start in a couple of seconds but you said yours cranks good. I would check the basics like you said and see what happens also I just remembered when I changed my last cps it seemed to start a little quicker [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif[/img] Good Luck
