starter??

i went outside today to start my truck. it was plugged in for a couple hours. i turned the key forward and waited for light to go out. then click. sounds like starter solenoid. i jumped the relay and it clicked down by the starter. i crawled under the truck and put metal across the solenoid and it spun the starter but it did not engage with the flywheel. i think it is time for a new starter do you guys agree. and would you go with a high torque starter?

Yes and yes...It sounds like you need a new starter and you might as well put in a newer high torque starter. I bought mine off eBay from dbelectrical. I've been really happy with it.

I've not had to replace my starter yet. When the time comes, based on the raving reviews of the DB Electrical starter, I'm prepared to pull the trigger on it.

I had the exact same problem this morning! Went out to start it and heard the click and no start. I did try starting it 3 more times after that and the starter did kick in and the truck started. Is it possible to just change out the solenoid on the starter?

If your problem ends up being the starter, another vote for the DB Electrical high torque starter.

Installed mine few weekends ago, what a huge difference.
