My truck is in my sig.

I don't have a number for you but there is usually a problem in parts stores with the 97's. There were two models of them the light duty and the heavy duty. If you ask for one for a 96 you may find what you need with no problems.

deiter5262 -- The steering gear is a Ford unit. Looking at it from underneath the truck, mine has the Ford part number prefix and suffix embossed on it. The Steering Gear page from the shop manual may help with finding the identification tag. I went out and looked on mine but couldn't find it either.

Jim has a good suggestion though about using '96 as the model year though.

Cheers from Claremore, OK!
Dave
