Ok guys,, I have a strange question. When I turn my steering wheel it makes an almost rubber against rubber "noise". It dosent seem to be any problem with the steering itself, but it is just a pain to hear. It seems like it happens in most cases turning right. Nothing seems loose or anything,, Any opinions?

Mine does it too; I have no idea what causes it. Drives me buggy at idle, but I forget all about it if I bend my right ankle a bit. Use the loud pedal - it makes all kinds of noises go away.

Sounds like first signs of a upper steering column bearing failure. Does the wheel feel strange - grinding or catching during movement? When mine went south the first symptom was the squeek noise, followed by a dry grinding noise that could also be felt in the wheel. I could also feel the wheel begin to move over bumps. I took it apart and there was nothing left of the upper bearing so I replaced it. Six months the noise came back accompanied by intermittent locking up (very unnerving). I ended up in there again to do the lower bearing (my bad, should have done them both at the same time).
What are the part numbers for those bearings and where did you get them? I need to replace them in mine. Thanks,

Sorry to sound like a wise guy. I'd love to fix that funny rubbing sound; anyone have some column bearing replacement tips to share?

The dealer has a kit that has most of what you are likely to need including a little tube of lube and a new steering wheel nut. I was surprised they had them in stock at the local dealer but I think it is common parts among several make/model/years. The dealer was kind enough to print the exploded view from his parts catalogue, that helped a lot since mine was so bad some of the parts had literally disappeared into dust.
The upper bearing isn't hard, pull the steering wheel and it is right there. The lower bearing is a tougher and I don't recall all the gory details (it was 4 years ago, I've slept since then). I do remember you need to pull the lock assembly. There are a couple of snap rings that hold things together and it comes apart from the top. I did it in the driveway with hand tools.. The steering wheel can be hard to remove but judicious use of the hammer frees things up. It's a little like pulling the flywheel on the lawn mower..
I had the same thing - and it acted like it was plastic on plastic, not bearing issues. It would squeek with just a slight movement. I got some silicon lube and squirted it in there and haven't had a noise in six months. M2C
