Thoughts Please. Oil leak from the pan gasket.

Like it is said above, my oil pan is leaking from the gasket at the rear of the pan. It is NOT the rear main bearing leaking.

Any thoughts on trying to get it to stop, short of pulling the motor?

Just pull the motor and fix it right..it will only take you a few days. Ive been out of a truck for what..5 months on and off now. Its not that difficult to pull and engine if you take it step by step, bolt by bolt rather. Its all psychologic.

I agree, it not that bad if you have access to the right tools. Use the IH gray to seal it, works very well.

no guarantees--but------wash the area with alcohol very well--then apply the grey ih pan sealant to the outside of the area between block and pan-and let dry for a day--works most of the time-----as i said---the only thing that seems to affect the outcome--is how much blowby the engine has--hence more pressure on the pan gasket---hence sealing ability---

Brake parts cleaner works best i have found..have a clean, dry rag handy and spray it on and wipe off after you get all the old RTV off. Brake clean evaporates in seconds. Make sure you get the non chlorinated stuff.
