When it dies it won't refire but if I let it sit for 5-10 it will start right up and drive for a bit. As for the scan I will try it agin next week.

Never rule out something floating around in your fuel tank and being sucked over the fuel feed line and then letting go after the suction lets off after the motor dies and some time to let loose and then does it all over again and again.

Just suffered through this a couple of months ago. With my old (rip) engine, i never had a cps issue. Never. Swapped over the ol trusty cps and entire wiring harness into the new engine and toasted my 15 year old cps on her maiden voyage. Threw numerous cps's at this thing over the course of 2-4 weeks, including IH sensors and a Superduty cps as well (gold contacts, white in color). Turned out, after a ride home on a roll-back, and I just about had enough of this crap, one of the 3 wires, i think pin C, was broken inside the connector and was making intermittent contact. My truck would not act up when cold, only after it warmed up. With that said, disconnect your cps and measure ground/dcv at the pins while wiggling the connector/backshell/wires and see what happens. Pin A to ground key off, pin B .5vdc koeo and pin C 12vdc koeo. If this is your problem, i will provide you with a cps connector/pig tail repair kit part number from FoMoCo.

Good luck..

Randy
Thanks i checked that and i seem to be getting current and no broken wires

BUT now being cold and having sit since thursday night it just cranks with no start i tried jumping the gpr to see if maybe that went out due to the guy scanning the truck leaving the key forward for a while which i know is not good and i also heard a weird sound coming from the realy or near by like a loud ticking or a contactor chattering.

im getting fed up and need to get back to work any more suggestions.

i just tested the relay according to a previous post
12v main lug
key on powers up large lug across from it
powers up little lug to the left of it

after relay turns off has main lug on and 2 small lugs the other large lug has no current even when cranking

could this also be a problem of shutting down my glow plugs when the relay gets hot and in turn kills the truck?

Your gp relay appears to be operating correctly. Plug in the block heater to aid cold weather starting. Also, if its really cold, cycle the plugs a couple of times...the down side is that a serious drain will be placed on your batts....but you need to have them on charge anyway.

Extended cranking with no start can deplete the hpor. Dont forget to keep an eye on its level.

What is your pressure? I have seen fuel pumps start a truck fine and idle all day long, but when you mash the go pedal, it falls on its face...monitor while driving to be sure.

How do I check that?

For the preasure I need to get a liquid filled gauge and pull the scrader.
But I will only get cranking preasure. Cause it still won't start

Pull the plug on top of the HPOP reservoir (rectangular box-shaped thing on top/front of motor). It should within 1/2 inch from top.

You need to know if the cranking pressure is sufficient, and if it starts you will want to try and check it a WOT (tape the gauge to the windshield). I've had fuel pumps fail on the high pressure stage where it would idle all day but go to zero at WOT. Cheers!

If the HPOP oil level is low refill it through the plug hole with fresh oil. You can get a fuel injection pressure gauge from Advance Auto, Autozone, O'riellys, NAPA, etc..

As stated, if the rez is low, just top it off. But be mindful of the crankcase level. If you have to add oil a few times to the rez, the effect will be an overfull crankcase....which reminds me...your crankcase oil level is good right?
