Transmission Leak

1996 F-350 7.3 PSD 4x4. The manual transmission has a slow leak. Drop by drop. Underside of truck near trans is coated with trans fluid.

How do I check the fluid level on a manual transmission? And how does one go about topping off the trans with fluid?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think there's usually a plug on the side/body on the manual transmission. You check and fill it like the differentials, thru the plug hole.

There is a plug on the side with i think a 3/8 drive slot. Unscrew it and stick your finger in there to check the level just like you would check differential fluid levels. If its below the bottom of the plug hole then simply add fluid through the plug hole until it's level.

Mine leaks too and it gets annoying having to do this process every other week

Where is it leaking from (PTO cover(s), Output shaft, etc)? The only leak I ever had on mine waswhen the rear yoke nut somehow came off. Since it is a one-time use, self-locking type nut, I had to replace it (which fixed the leak). Cheers!
