I have near zero endplay but seem to have quite alot of up and down movement on shaft. Are the rebuild kits easy to install?

Up and down movement is normal...the in and out is the one to worry.... are you having issues ? And as far as your question goes , it depends on how mechanical you are....For me I have done it and it is not that hard...BUT I will never do it again since my time is worth more than the cost of a rebuilt unit ....

I was getting a squealing noise at full boost. Im very mechanicaly inclined so i took it apart to rebuild. really had no issues with the tear down at all. had to use a little heat to get a few bolts out. Low and behold had turbo sitting on bench with shaft still in it. It magicaly fell off bench and bent the shaft!!!! Just my luck

So needless to say looking for a reman turbo now. Or a good used one!
