&^&*^&^turbo removal

94 7.3 on about 5th day of engine removal who ever says 10 hrs needs to lay the crack piipe down lol anyways lots of twisted off and broken bolts later the turbo is loose 4 pedestal bolts out and the 4 exhaust side flange bolts out but it still will not lift out seems like something on drivers side rear corner of pedestal is holding it from coming out? have i missed something? This is my first deisel but owned fords all my life i gotta say this is about the most pizz poor design ive ever seen as far as working on it ive ever seen. this bolt under this part this part jammed in here where its impossible to get to etc etc. i cant believe ford would put something like this out............

Did you get all the trans bolts and all 6 TC bolts out ? Also it could be hung up on the dowels. You can cut the up-pipe bolts off to get the Turbo off . . . You also need to support trans ( I'm not trying to be an Jackass) Keep plugging away and you'll get it . . . You should get someone to help you , Did you look at Diezel Jim's website ? I

Is this one a PowerStroke or a factory turbo IDI?

If it has an automatic it is a 94 IDI (the PowerStroke was only available in the second half of 94 and only with a manual transmission). This may be in the wrong forum.

its a manual trans 5spd the prob isnt getting the engine out its getting the turbo off so i can get the engine out. was told by several people turbo must be removed to pull engine its loose but hung up on something i dont want to break the pedestal..........

There are 4 pedestal bolts but you do not need to remove the turbo to pull the engine. I pulled the engine on my truck, also a '94, without pulling the turbo. It does help to take the hood off though if you haven't done that.

sdan tx for the info it will save alot of time putting it back in by not having to put turbo on with engine already in truck.........
