update on 97 wont start..

i took my batteries and starter to napa...and they put the starter on the test machine and orange sparks came out the side holes on it..and the batteries checked out good..they wanted $200 for the starter and $75 for a glow plug relay..i decided to shop the internet instead...so what would be recomended for a starter on my 97f250 4x4 7.3? i have the slow turning starter now..ive seen the ones on ebay but wasnt sure which to get thanks Jason

I called DB Electical and found the starter i need..now just need to locate a glow plug relay..thanks for the help falles..Jason

I can tell you that you will be very pleased with the starter from DB electrical. GPR109 at napa will be about 25 bucks if you have to pay sales tax. I bought a GPR111 and with tax and all it was 75 bucks. Everyone seems to like the stancor if you are willing to pay 75. Wish I did.

I actually just went through a very similar situation down here Castle Rock. I got the high torque starter from DB Electrical, wow what a difference. I also ordered a 200 amp alternator at the same time from them. I got a GP109 from NAPA for around $25. It will work, and has a 12 month warranty. I figure if it craps out next winter, I'll get a brand new one to get through next winter, that'll be 2 years on $25. If I have to replace it again outside of warranty, I will be at the same price as the Stancor. And at that point I will have had my truck for longer than any vehicle previous, so $25 works for me...
