Where to buy new coolant tank

I want to buy a new coolant tank for my '96 F250 with the 7.3 powerstroke.
Ford tells me that the only one that is not obsolete is the 2 hose (one small and one large) which happens to be the style I need. Unfortunately that is on backorder since February.

Is there an alternative or does anyone have a line on one.

Mine is still OK but I do a lot of long road trips and I'm getting ready for all new hoses etc. and since it's apparently so hard to get now I'm even more determined to replace it in the comfort of my own garage.

Thanks,

Tom

Is there any problem with the current one? Have you checked eBay, Amazon, FordPartsGiant, RockAuto, local parts stores, other Ford dealerships...?

The only problem right now is it's 21 years old. In Phoenix, that's like 147 years old for anything rubber or plastic. If it was readily available I wouldn't be concerned but I don't want to be stuck in Bugtussle Oklahoma on one of my road trips with no options.

As I stated, Ford doesn't have them. There is no after market that I can find.

Time to break out the TIG, I guess

So you're not going to check those places for the Ford part?

So if it is on backorder, backorder it.

If you do it now you might have it when you need it if the one in the truck fails somewhere in the future.

96 F250 PS XLT 4X4 long box, 5sp,4.10, manual hubs, pyro+boost guages, Dark Toumaline, add a leaf, Dale's TYMAR, and HX hose, downpipe, coolant filter, Luk clutch

I guess I'm not making myself clear...

Called every Ford dealer in the or near Phoenix metro area. "Backordered from Ford. None in any warehouse in the country. No anticipated delivery date".

Napa-not offered, Autozone- not offered, Oreilly's- not offered, Advanced Autoparts- not offered, etc etc.

Yes, I will order the backordered part but I'm leaving Thursday for the first of several races that I'll be driving cross country for. If I'd have known that this was even a thing I'd have ordered one years ago, but...

Anyway, I was just hoping that somebody had a line on one.

Appreciate the help

No, it seems pretty clear that you don't want to check RockAuto or the other sites I suggested for the tank.

Great. What about all the Ford dealerships in the country? Many of them (including the one I worked at) have old parts sitting on their shelves - not in warehouses; in the dealerships. The ones OUTSIDE the Phoenix area.

And I promise you that the system available to Ford dealership parts guys does NOT check "every warehouse in the country". At best, it checks every FORD warehouse. It doesn't check RockAuto's warehouses, or any other independent parts dealers'. So YOU have to check them.

...or not.

THAT's the unclear part. If you don't verbosely list every place you've checked, how will we know which ones you didn't, to suggest them to you?

But you're making a tempest in a teacup. You have no reason to believe your tank will fail in the foreseeable future. And even if you change it, the new one is exactly as likely to fail (if not moreso). I'd be more concerned with tires (including the spare), ATF, lights, wipers, brakes... Things that are actually known to wear out frequently, and that you'll depend on to complete the trip. You can't plan for everything, so don't try. Plan for the likely things, which are conveniently listed for you in the maintenance schedule. The coolant reservoir isn't on it, for a reason.

Why replace it? I never heard one post of failure of this part whether in Phoenix or whatever city. Phoenix ruins plastic recovery tanks more than rest of universe?
