10K mod completed...CEL?

I did the 10k mod today, according to my voltmeter i did it correctly.

when the plug is connected, i used the upper left, and lower, of the 3 wires.

Anyways....my check engine light came on, i also did the BB FPR trick, and after i started it with the BB mod done, it didn't have a CEL. After i did the 10kmod, it popped up a solid CEL once started, not in "run" position.

I don't have an OBD2 scanner yet...any ideas? should i remove it? did the 10k do too much?

I noticed less lag..i wouldnt say HUGE power increases, but seemed a bit peppier, and a lil quicker, and less turbo lag.

Thanks!

Re: 10K mod completed...CEL?

The icp will throw a cel if it is not connected properly or if it is crapped. The 10k mod is known to cause loose icp connection that can throw cels. What that cel means is the icp is not working and the computer is using default numbers to run your truck. Performance is usually decreased by this if your icp was functioning correctly before the connection got loose. Double check plugs on icp making good contact, take off 10k and see if cel still there. Forcing the wires in for the 10k can often loosen the plug connections.

thank ya much..maybe that's why i didn't see as much of a difference ilke i was hoping...fuel pressure went up but not oil...hmm

I'll check that out ASAP, and i'll let you know..it didn't throw any codes before..the connections didn't seem loose at all either on the backside..maybe i'll just unplug and make sure it's a tight fit when i plug it in

THANKS!

Sometimes you have to keep plugging it in untill the CEL goes away. May take several attempts.

Re: 10K mod completed...CEL?

I just did the shim and 10k mod last weekend. I didn't notice much with the shim mod but with the 10k I notice a BIG difference.

Ive seen before and after 10K mod dyno sheets posted on this site, the only mod the guy had done was the 10K mod. Netted 25~30 HP and 50 ft lbs TQ. The 10K mod is far and away the single cheapest horsepower per dollar mod that can be done to these trucks. Hate to say it, but from here on out it gets spendy.

Ok...well, looks like either i put them in the wrong holes..or, they arent connected right..etc, i'll keep plugging it in n such, thanks

Looks like i should see a big performance gain once i get that working, that's great

And..i know it gets spendy...my new Tymar intake and Tymar downpipe should be on their way this next week
