10k Mod problem

Allright I did the 10k mod tonight and I've encountered some problems. After installing the resistor, I started it and the engine sounded really funny. It loped horribly bad after I installed it. I didn't like it doing this, so I shut it off and took out the resistor. After taking the resistor out and plugging the ICP sensor back in, I threw a code. So I pulled out the scanner and scanned it. The code is a P1280 code. So i don't know if I toasted the sensor or what? Thanks for any help!

Re: 10k Mod problem

1280* ICP ICP circuit out of range low Uses inferred ICP strategy Open/grounded circuit, biased sensor, PCM.

i would try unplugging the sensor and plugging it back in a couple times and see if that does anything. ive never heard of a 10k mod frying an ICP sensor but i guess it could happen. FWIW, with your chip you're not going to notice much, if any difference at all with a 10k mod. good luck man.

Re: 10k Mod problem

Ya I unplugged it and couple of times and no go. So I dunno? I also had another code too but I bet it was related to the ICP code. It was a P3044 code. But I'm betting it has somthing to do with the other code? Thanks

Re: 10k Mod problem

You may need to tighten up the female connector pins a bit after removing the resistor. Cheers!

Na, I would say it was a P0344, that is a cps code, common with a chopped up outta control idle. If you got bad gps in a couple cylinders it will throw it in certain startup situations in the real cold weather too, dont worry about it. Like said you used too big of a gauge or too many strands of wire to put the resistor in, the terminals in the connector are spread out. VERY GENTLY take an oring pick or little screwdriver and put a little tension back in them, should fix you right up.
