Well, I was wondering if anybody here has run the 120cc splitshots, the ones that came in the California 1997 powerstroke, but deleted the bosch pulse fuel dampener that is behind the fuel pump. I'd love to delete this item if it's not a requirement.

Re: 120cc splitshot injectors with stock fuel pump
if you put in the electric fuel pump you don't need a damper

It's an extra part behind the banjo bolt that the other 49 state trucks don't have. Some here have said that the splitshots don't work with the pulsed fuel from the lift pump, while others have chimed in and said it was a "noise emmissions" test product, which ultimately led to the electric setup. An answer to that is more or less what I was looking for from this post....or at least some more clarity. That little bosch fuel dampener is the sole reason that the turbo has to be removed on our Cali. trucks to replace the fuel pump. That said, I don't trust myself to remove the turbo without another gearhead standing near-by who has done one to show me a thing or two, considering this is my daily driver, and i've never attempted to remove the turbo, or any of the major fuel system components for that matter. If i do end up having to pay and have the pump replaced, and the fuel dampner is a noise emissions "option", i'd rather live without that extra part, and be able to replace fuel pumps without removing the turbo....and as for the electric setup, boy don't I wish I had that kind of money laying around....but Bean's price is just a little out of my range, and I just don't have the time to have the truck down while I fabricate a system from scratch. Also, considering I think i'm beginning to feel my TC getting ready to let go, i've gotta watch the funds....May need a trip to an Arkansas Tranny shop before long . Oh the joys of owning an aging truck. Oh well, at least while others are forking over 600 a month for their new ones, mine's MINE.

Re: 120cc splitshot injectors with stock fuel pump
I will be taking my pump/damn pener out tomorrow after work,I also would like to know if we need this damnpner because that is what is leaking on my truck.Napa has the pump for $ 111.00 but no damn damnpner in their books. Is this necessary or is a pipe plug in my future?? Re: 120cc splitshot injectors with stock fuel pump
well i went out and hit the damn per with the air chisel and it spun loose. It is just threaded on but doesnt look like pipe threads...strait threads.I will find a plug tomorrow and find out if we (need) this or not.I think my pump is good so it wont take long to find out.I will be in touch

Re: 120cc splitshot injectors with stock fuel pump
well took the damn pener off and plugged the hole with a JD oil pan plug (fit perfectly) and it runs like new, possibly quieter?? warmsmile:
