so is the hump rear cover the definate identifier of the 17 degree pump? The reason I ask is because I have a late 99 engine but has a flat rear cover. I am looking for a cheap 17 degree pump and if that is a 17 degree i need to look no further.
Any info would be great
Thank
Tim

No the cover is not a definent deciding factor on whether it is a 17* pump or not. Under the cover if it has a bushing it is a 17* and if it has a bearing then it is a 15* pump. Some people have gotten remans from the dealer with a humped cover only to find out it is not a 17* pump.

so pretty much if it has a flat cover it is certainly a 15 degree and if its humped more than likely it 17degree but no gaurantee. What is the year range of application for the 17 degree so I can start looking?
Thanks
Tim

Click HERE for a pic of what under the cover looks like on my SD HPOP...I was worried that I received a 15* pump so I posted that pic and was told that it was in fact a 17* pump
they can come both ways, teh only reson people say otherwise, myself is, " if you are buying it off Ebay or out of teh motor off a shelf, then get a humped one for sure"
