1705 superchips max microtuner

i just bought a 96 f-250 powerstroke and it came with a superchips max microtuner the 1705 version. my dad wants me to do some research on it before i plug it in and use it. i was just wondering what settings options it has on there and also which setting will get me the fuel economy and which one will get me the most power? also will any of the settings help make the truck roll a little coal??

I have that programer.
Havent used it except to pull or erase codes.
You can plug it in without programing the chip.
My wife would pull a horse trailer so we only set it to TOW SAFE mode, but you can set it to race, which means you do not want to pull heavy loads with it set to this.
You can try each setting to see what it does for you, just follow the instructions or you will lose the chip and have to take it to ford to reprogram your chip.
I believe there is 4 settings, race being the highest setting.
Do you have stock injectors in it, that will make a difference as well.
You start out by making sure the truck is not running or the ignition on, take the key out to make sure, plug it in and follow the hand held instructions.
It will save your stock program so when you want to de-program it back to stock you can.
Once you use it to program your truck, the programmer will only work to your truck, it will be locked to your truck , except to read codes.

yes, if your engine or cel light is on you can read the codes to see what is stored as a code.

Plug it in and follow the prompts. If you don't like a program just pick another one or go back to stock. You're not going to change anything permanently by using it.

Pick a program, drive it and test if for yourself for power and mileage. I had one and none of the programs made a difference in mileage unless my foot was in it all the time.
