SO whats the difference between the 94.5-97 PCM's.
I have a stock PCM on my 94.5. IS there a better PCM version out there and does anyone know the specific differences?
Only difference is the programming in the pcm. The upgrade would be to a newer version. I know the preferred one for auto's is TDE1, not sure about hand-shakers though. First you need to know your PCM code. Ford routinely upgraded the PCM as trucks came in with problems that could be fixed with a flash.

Yes you can. Jody or the dealer can re-flash your PCM, or you can just have a chip burned to the better PCM code. i.e. you can have a 95 auto you can have a 97 TDE1 4 page, 6 possition chip burned so your 95 will have the power and shifting parameters of the 97's.
Since Snowgo has a 94.5 that means it's a 5 speed because if I remember right they did not make a 94.5 auto, only a 5 speed was available on the first PSD's.

Also...with the older trucks (94.5-95) that are OBD I....having your PCM reflashed to a later calibration (96-97) you can then use OBD II diagnostic equipment...
Dunno, I went from AUG6 with no chip to TDE1 with a chip... so I can't really say much about the differences between the two, except that it works.

Thanks for all the info guys.
Im not sure what I have in the truck. I guess i would have to pull it out to check it. It does have the port under the dash. WOuld a code reader tell you the version when plugged in?
SO, if its still original PCM whats the best one to upgrade to?
Your code should be BEG6 or BEG8 if its the original pcm. You should'nt need to upgrade your pcm. It looks like in your sig that you have a ts chip. Most chips will give you the most current pcm settings. befroe I got my chip, I played with a few PCM's in my truck and could'nt see any difference in any different pcm's. With a auto its a different story with different shifting patterns.
94 PSD, That I did not know. SInce I put this engine in i havent had any trouble or need to read codes. Just poor mileage due to warm up idling, #1 fuel and hubs locked in all the time.
ITs running good but I just cant quit fiddling with it.
so, who is this jody person? my tranny shifts funky. dealer reflashed it, shifted great. shut it off, started it later. and now it shifts like crap again. any help?
