How much power can the stock engine internals and the stock 5spd manual handle? What are some good sites to go to for beefing up the engine and tranny?

350 or so to the wheels will be completely reliable power. This site is the best place you have landed for you stroke.

From what I've learned on here The engine internals will got up to 550hp, then you need wrist pins, rods, and head studs. As for the tranny, an auto will most certainly not hold that! I'm not a fan of Auto trans, so i'm kinda in the dark on that(someone else will chime in) I don't know the capabilities of the ZF5 either, but I have never heard tell of anyone getting one to explode or anything. I would think alls you need is a really good clutch. the real gurus will chime in later. my info is just what I have read in the past.
The tranny part number ZF S-542 tells you that it is
S: fully synchronized
5: 5 Speed
42: RATED at 420 lb/ft of torque.
The S-547 is RATED at 470 lb/ft of torque.
Obviously they will stand a lot more than that, but I don't know how much. I haven't seen one break. I really hate to rev mine up and drop the clutch, though.
