My factory shop manual says my thermostat is a 205 (starts to open at 205, fully open at 220). I haven't found one yet. Motorcraft website gives a part number for 190 degree. Where could i find the 205 one?

I dont want to be a PITA, but the dieselsite thermostat is a 203, and I just feel like i should be able to find a long stem 205, especially since thats what the factory says it is supposed to have.
Thanks.

You can feel however you want but it ain't gonna happen. Your factory shop manual also says the coolant flows from the water pump to the heater core and from the heater core to the head, what are you gonna do about that?

The stant long stem replacement that I put in last week said it was a 195 on the box but didn't start opening till after 200* when checked in a pot with a calibrated thermometer. I would guess that the difference between a 203 and a 205 is negligible in the grand scheme of things if youre interested in buying a $30 thermostat.

Change the water pump and t-stat at the same time.... then do you not have the option of using the short-stem pump and readily available 203-205* stat?

Oooh, now my feelings are hurt---NOT!, heh
Anyway, he's right. Ordered the 203 from dieselsite allong with the housing. whatever.
The intl 1822815c1 someone had a picture of in the 203 thread mentioned above, is not sold (prolly never was) by Intl dealers, it was made for Ford as a "Ford part" for OEM installations only. Intl dealers don't even know what teh degrees were.
The rest (motorcraft, stant, wahler, napa...)are lower degrees or short stem (as you know...)

It's everywhere. There are some bolts with metric heads and sae threads . I wouldn't worry about 203 vs. 205 if find a 203 that will fit. If you tested 50 in water you would probably find some open higher and some lower than 203-205.
