2nd gear burnout power

I was just wondering if any of you 5 spd guys have your truck modded enough to burn out in second gear (no power brake). I don't want to go tearing my truck up, but that is the kind of power I am looking for in my 96 and jsut wondering how much I have to mod to get to that.

Re: 2nd gear burnout power

Most of the time my BTS auto will spin when shifting into 2nd gear.

Re: 2nd gear burnout power

My truck will lay some pretty good rubber with the mods I have. Only do it when I'm trying to get outta someones way or something. Without trac bars or something the wheel hop is probably bad enough to rip out your tranny. Burnouts ain't cool though, hookin up and gettin gone real quick is what gets my adrenaline flowin.

Re: 2nd gear burnout power

do all my burnouts in 2nd gear, pull through the waterbox, put in 2nd, smash brake pedal real hard, set line lock, pop the throttle and ease it back to about 6500, release line lock when it starts to grab get off the loud pedal....oops, wrong forum, you meant the truck.

Re: 2nd gear burnout power

i wish there was a way to measure wheel hop in inches...i've got 4.10 open diff with 33's. i have never laid rubber but have got a couple inches of air under the rear tires trying. Re: 2nd gear burnout power

like I said, it's not really the burnout power I want, it's the "get up and go" that I want.

Re: 2nd gear burnout power

Mine always just wiggles around when it's pulling hard in the lower gears up through 3 or so, but doesn't break loose on a smooth dry road. But it's just the 37's, cause it flat murders the little stockers lol.

So I would say that 400hp would be a good starting point for hosing stock tires through second.

Re: 2nd gear burnout power

Mine will lite em up in second gear with no breaks. There is a little clutch abuse happening though, cant do it from a rolling start.

If I powerbrake a bit, I can spin both tires thru overdrive. Oops, you said 5 speed.

Re: 2nd gear burnout power

The mods in my sig will burn out in second, but the axle hop is TERRIBLE. It would definately DESTROY many things if you let it go very long.
