4.10 REAR END FOR FREE!

Well actually to trade for a 3.73. I would like to check out mileage benefits of the 3.73s as I like to cruise at 75 mph and only tow 6K lbs. My mods are such that I have power to spare. There is a guy in Louisiana with an '01 SuperDuty who wants 4.10s. Can we just swap axles, backing plates and all so he can retain his disc brakes?

No. But you can swap gears.

Then we will need to do setup on both. I was hoping to avoid that. What is different in the ends of the housings? Perhaps I need to find someone with a 94-97.

Re: 4.10 REAR END FOR FREE!

I swapped out my 4:10's for 3:55's and when towing I got the same milage, maybe 1-2 MPG better, but I still got 15's towing, and I accelerated slower, on the open road, long trip, empty, driving I can get into the 20's but hotroding around town they really suck the fuel, 15's in town.

with the 4:10's I got pretty much the same all around, town and highway only differed by a couple MPG not 5-6 like the 3:55's.

over all I am happy with the empty open road milage, but they are not that great for hot rodding or towing.

hopefully 3:73's will be better suited then the 3:55's
