450 hp project...

So what is your opinions? Is my list complete or does it need some more added? Thanks for any knowledge offered.

Gauges
4" exhaust
450hp clutch
Custom tuning
200cc injectors
17* HPOP
D66 turbo
Fuel system of some sort

Will that get me there? And am I correct that my truck does not have the PMR's?

Thanks.

I would go with an Adreneline Pump from Dieselsite, Might need bigger stix to get to 450hp. Headstuds? Intercooler?

Your SD has PMR's not your '97

Stage 2's can get you there..175cc
D66..I'd get a H2e for longevity
Beans fuel system or a DYI
TW tunes
3" intakes
head studs
valve springs
Better HPOP...good 17* will do it or Bobs or Stealth

My guess is you will also want an intercooler or water injection pending tire size and if you are towing much. Did you install the 3:73's? As I recall 97's only came with 3:55's or 4:10s. In terms of E-fuel you might look into a DIY using a 6.0 litre integrated pump water seperator, fuel heater and water sensor.

X2. I would look at Beans tuning also they are doing some amazing things as of late. You might look at a modded H2e or a Wide open performance QSSB turbo.
Also look at Dieselsites overdrive you will have to do e-fuel for that mod.

Well the gears are definately 3.73 as I am at about 1800 at 60mph. What happened is my dad bought the truck brand new in december '96 the truck came with 3.55 open rear diff, and the truck was bought with a limited slip diff and even paid for the extra option. So once we had the truck for a week and realized that it didnt have it, he took it back to them and had them change it out. They had to get the 3.73 because for some reason that is all they could get at the time. I like them personally. The truck pulls really good and still gets good mileage, so Im happy that is the gear that is in it. Back to the performance things though, it sure seems like Bean is the guy to talk to with these OBS trucks. Thanks for the help so far.

And yes, I forgot about the intercooler. Will a good water meth system do as well as and intercooler? Seems like it could be just as good of an option if Im not towing a lot.

Dont forget about an intake, Tymar is my choice.

You mentioned a D66, no sir! Its not designed for that and Bean will not guarantee it. 38R or modded H2E for you.

May want to think about pushrods too since the valve springs need to be upgraded (they will become the weakest link, they tend to break anyway for some odd reason).

I would call up BDP and talk it over with those guys, they would definately point you in the right direction.

Matt,

Right on with the 3:73 always thought that would be a nice ratio for around the 'loops area.....
A good guy to speak with locally would be NORTHRIVER1 as Sam has both (IC and h20)and tows a bunch. I have never ran water/meth but always an IC and it does help keep it cooler, mind you I am no where near 450...pehaps 320 or so now....Thing is there is always the notion to throw more fuel at it then....hahaaa....if you like PM me and I can get you Sam's phone number. Seem to think that water capacity may be an issue, all depends what you are doing though I s'ppose.

JRC,

What is the 6.0 pump you speak of. Off a 60 psd? or something else.

Hey Samduket,

6.0 pump refers to the 6.0 litre model powerstroke engine's electric fuel pump. It is an electic pump with integrated fuel filter, water sensor and some have a heater built in too. Also a feature on them is that return fuel from engine is routed either back to tank or if cold out back to engine by passing fuel tank...am currently looking to build a DIY fuel system with this pump.

JRC,

That is what I suspected, but have never heard tell of one. Something like the aftermarket crowd I suppose, no? I have interest in an electric fuel system and will consider this pump for sure.

the D66 wasnt "designed" for over 400, but certainly can handle it.....
and has in my truck for over two years, actually more...

its not the best choice, but for a budget choice it has held up just handy for me....

calling Bean is always good advice....

I have never seen Stage-2 injectors make much over 375 hp or so, yet others say they do all the time. ???
You indicated 200cc, if these are small hybrids, then you're on the right track and skip the Stage-2's.

Not to be picky, just curious. From all of my research 3.73 weren't even an option from anyone for the 10.25 rear. Some guys figured out you could install a set from a 10.5 SD rear, but those weren't around when you're truck was 1 week old.
Just wondering where the gears came from?
Maybe I'm thinking you can't get them for the D50/60 and your truck is 2wd?
1800 rpm at 60 mph does sound right for that, though.
I like the idea of 3.73 too.
