Re: 7.3 in a 1978 f150

Talk to bean. He has the wiring harnesses to plug it all in. He can also help you get it all bolted up right. You will also have to swap the C6 tranny out for an E4OD. A PSD will blow up a C6 real quick. There is one guy on here who has done something similiar.

Soon to be installed: Innercooler (sittin at the shop), Big Oil, Built Tranny, Coolant Filter, HX hose, and some others. 350k miles.

LOL thats funny right there, The Monster truck BigFoot has a 1500 HP Blown Alkie Engine and it has a C6 behind it. I have a 512CI big block in front of a C6 and has been there for Many years and it's still going strong, But to answer his question NO, A PSD wont bolt to a Big Block pattern but it will bolt to the Diesel Pattern

There is a member here that has done it and his truck is very slick. I can't remeber who it is, but he has pictures of it. Its a 79 extended cab if I remeber right. He went to high school not far from me too. I am thinking it was 75f100 maybe? Don't remeber but I'm sure someone does, but his truck is slick, I think he just took the harness and all from the donor truck.

I love my powerstroke, but personally for the time and money invested I would put a 12v cummins in it, then you would have a solid proven power plant and the capability to make it a real solid performer for less money than you would for the powerstroke. But, to each his own.

Yes, because I have never seen that truck, and 72pstroke is the one that went to high school about 35 miles from me. That is a nice truck too though, I wish I had his mustang sitting in my garage for fun too, but my wifey don't agree with that much for a toy....

Re: 7.3 in a 1978 f150

Find a old 6.9 that had the the old 4 speed and it has two piece bellhousnig and use that on your 4spd, the bolt pattern should work on the PSD, just seen one on ebay the other day.

And I can also get you setup with the full harness kit plug and play.

The better thing with the tranny would be to pick up a ZF and be done with it.

There is my truck, 78stroker, and strokepower78. I don't know if the other 2 were ever finished. They were on here for a while, but not lately. If I can answer any questions, send me a PM.
