cams76 -- Not to complicate your life but everything I have seen says Ford introduced the Power Stroke in early February 1994 with the ZF 5-speed manual transmission. The E4OD automatic transmission was not available until the 1995 model year. You can always double-check the engine with the VIN. If the truck has a Power Stroke, the 8th position will be an "F."

Powerstrokes have an internal fuel rail in the heads, unless it has external fuel lines like your IDI it probably is a PSD </font>

Powerstrokes have a cartridge fuel filter in the canister that is in the valley, IDI has a spin on filter. </font>
cams76 -- '94 Power Strokes still had the "Turbo Diesel" badge under the F250/350 badge. As Rodney said, '95 saw the introduction of the "Power Stroke Diesel" badge.
If the turbocharger said Garrett, it is a Power Stroke. The turbocharged 7.3L IDIs used an ATS turbocharger. In fact, the basic engine is the same for both the turbocharged and naturally aspirated 7.3L IDIs so if the engine looked different than your '93, it is a Power Stroke. Check out the Components section (scroll all the way down) from the 1996 F-Series Workshop Manual for some diagrams of the Power Stroke.

94Smoker -- Technically, yes; Power Strokes were in production in late '94. Buuuut, Job 1 for the Power Stroke was in early '94. TSB 95-05-19 is why I say that.

I wasn't trying to say that I didn't believe you. My truck is a '94, and I made sure about asking the seller if it was an acutal Powerstroke, and he said yes. I was just making sure what he told me was correct.

you can look under the hood, if you see a round airfilter it's NOT a powerstroke, and there should be the fuelfilter cover right in the center of the motor that says Direct Injection or DI(powerstroke)
