99.5 SD HPOP vs. 02 SD HPOP

i really did search i promise, i just didnt find the specific info i am looking for. so sorry for you guys who see these posts all the time and get tired of the noobie Q's!

i read somewhere by someone reputable on this site that a superduty HPOP had to be from a certain year or you could get a pump that is no better than whats on the 94-97's now. is this true? am i gettin all the info? reason i ask is i have a pump i can buy but its off an earlier 1999. should i keep looking?

also, what exactly makes them different? is it the 'gearing' of the pump that makes them spin faster, pump harder?

thanx guys

Re: 99.5 SD HPOP vs. 02 SD HPOP

You want to locate a pump with the CRM suffix to the part number.
The difference in pumps is the swash plate angle which changes the capacity.

If it's an early 99, keep shopping. Tom is correct. Make sure it's 99.5-03 (F81Z-9A543-CRM) and you'll have the right one.

Re: 99.5 SD HPOP vs. 02 SD HPOP

I have been thinking about something as well. Does that pump have to have the hump in the rear cover? I bought my SD HPOP from dieselspecialists and got that part #. But the rear cover was not humped. Did I get screwed?

Re: 99.5 SD HPOP vs. 02 SD HPOP

I can't speak for Delphi, but all Ford remans with the above part number are 17* pumps.

No, you did you good!

Re: 99.5 SD HPOP vs. 02 SD HPOP

rubberducj my pump came from a late 99 with a flat cover but I removed the cover and it had a bushing instead of a bearing which is the only real positive way to tell if its a 17 degree pump. It also drives my AD splits much better than my 97's stock pump

Re: 99.5 SD HPOP vs. 02 SD HPOP

So the 17* pumps have the bushing and the 15* pumps have a bearing on the back?
