ADD A LEAF

What if any advantage does it give you? When I bought new tires and got the alignment done they tried to get me to put them in. They said that it "the front end" was sagging. Ive been keeping my eye on other stock trucks and they sit just like mine. Thanks/ Muss1980

Re: ADD A LEAF

well as long as the tires don't rub and you like the ride height of your truck they serve no purpose whats so ever. it may be true that yours are sagging and that they wanted to sell you those to "fix" the alignment. While sagging springs can cause an alignment to be out it can be fixed with camber bushings, which would also be needed if they did the add a leaf. So for the most part add a leaf are used by those that want the front end up higher so the truck sits level and for those running larger tires that rub the bumper or fender.

Re: ADD A LEAF

Even when I bought my truck brand new back in 94, I noticed I had virtually no suspension travel in the front end. After a couple years the front end was darn near on the rubber stops, and when you looked at the truck from the front, you noticed the tires were visibly tilted in at the top. So eventually I added the leaf on each front spring (myself, for about $80) and it brought the tires pretty much straight up and down, as well as giving me the suspension travel the truck should've had to start with. Ford even had a "silent" service bulletin, if I had known early enough I probably could've had Ford put the leafs in for free...Anyhow, read back through these forums and you'll see that weak front springs are a well-known problem.

No alignment can restore the lost suspension travel from sagging springs, so I'd say get the leafs and put 'em in. I certainly don't regret it.

Re: ADD A LEAF

Where did you get your leafs at? Were they in a kit?
