and then find the two wires that are black w/ a red tracer and brown w/ an orange tracer coming out of the Power Distribution Box, and make a jumper to connect these two?

It's even easier than that. Take a look at THIS picturs. On truck with factory cruise there is a pressure switch on top of the master cylinder that deactivates the cruise when you apply the brakes. Your truck wont have the switch but it will have the harness, it should be plugged into a dummy receptacle on the back of the underhood fuse box. That's where you need to insert your jumper. Just make sure that it is insulated because there is 12V going through it whenever the engine is running.
The pressure switch is a backup safety device in case the brake light switch on the brake pedal fails to cancel the cruise. Dont forget there is also an "OFF" button on the horn pad. If you wanted to make it just like the factory did it you'd have to replace your master cylinder with one with the port for the switch. I dont know of anyone that has gone to that extreme. I put the jumper in mine maybe 4 years ago because the switch was bad and leaking fluid. At one time I actually planned on buying a new switch and eliminating the jumper, finally last year I replaced the leaky switch with a bolt.
The harness is a good source for KOER 12V, I use it to power an hour meter.
Does anybody have a link to ebay where I can buy a horn pad? I keep looking but can't find any for sale. thanks
Rick, I have factory cruise so never looked up the part numbers. It looks like our horn pads but I see it says for "E" series. I dont know if it's the same or not. I suppose you could crossreference the numbers on powerstrokeshop.
All I did was look up the item number from a previous post.

Yep, thats exactly what you need.
I used the same auction part on my 97. I did notice that the wires on my truck werent the colors listed but it was the only connector under the brake booster that had 2 wires and wasn't being used. It was plugged into a small grey connector mounted to the side of the big electrical box by the booster.

I just changed the steering wheel on my 2002 ford e450 van. It has a 7.3l. Where is the jumper need to go. The wire color and the location would be great. I have a wire plugged into the aux brake switch on the Master Cylinder already. I thought the extra switch on the Master cylinder should not be there since the van came without cruise. Where and I going wrong?
