Aftermarket Cruise Control

Anyone know where or the best route to add cruise control to a 97 F250 XL? Gotta smoking deal on a nice truck but its XL and no cruise... Gotta have it...

Thanks,
MW

Your in the wrong forum so this will probably get moved.....but all you need is the horn pad off a truck with cruise. Its like $25 at a junk yard. Then jumper wire the backup brake pedal pressure switch harness under the hood. Then your good to go.

Yep. Cruise control and most other general electrical parts are the same between the gas and diesels. Have you checked out FTE. They have a decent gasser section IIRC.

Got the pad today and put on. I was under the understanding that it would work with just this being done and the jumper wire was only a failsafe rig for if the brake light went out. Mine is not working by just replacing horn pad. Should It?? I plan on doing a jumper wire but ran it for a quick test to see if it was good to go but it was not.... 3rd brake light is working and I have not tested the nuetral safety switch but I would imagine its good to. What gives? Did I waste $43?

no. You have to install the jumper in order for the system to operate correctly. The jumper is actually what allows the cruise to work and if it was hooked up normal it would interrupt the signal not send one, Thats why when you took it out the cruise wasnt working, that jumper has to be in there. 5 min job and you should be on your way

Can anyone post a pic of where this dummy two wire plug is and what it looks like? I have one that fits the bill but not sure if its the right one. The color of wires dont match and when I jumped it,,,,,,,,,,, nothing The dummy plug wiring comes out the main wiring on the Power dist box and curls around and is attached back to the outside of the power dist box.

Just so you guys know it wont work on a gasser. It will need more parts due to the accelerator on a diesel being computer controlled rather than cable controlled. I appreciate the attempts of helping me but may have bought a horn pad for nothing....

I have a 2002 e450 with a 7.3l. I have replaced the steering wheel already. I need to know what wires to jump and the location of those wires.

The wiring is all there. You need the cruise control module on a gasser. I have one if you want, but you'll still need the cable. The horn pad, cruise module, and jumper wire are all that is required.

PM me for the module. I'll sell it for $60.
