I have not been able to find anything besides the Kelderman. I've thought about modifiying a Super Duty Kit, but I think I could build one for cheaper than the $2000 that they sell for.
I would like to know if something comes up though.

Hey dr...

IIRC there was a rear system I saw a while back that replaced the rear springs with a link from front (of rear) spring hanger over the rear axle to an air bag on the aft side of the axle, looked to be a bolt on application and I don't remember a rear track bar.... Just can't remember who....did a quick search but found nuthin...thought it was ride rite or ride something.

Air ride

I have had Keldermans kit on my truck for 200k miles. I like the way the truck rides whether I am pulling my 24' or empty. No problems so far. I like being able to adjust the bags depending on what weight I have on.
Just my 2cents worth.

Good luck

Djanzen....that is the one I was thinking of and drford if you look at the installation guide (pdf. file) in the link you can see how it works. One question with this system, how do the links account for different axle to link angles?. Imagine driving on uneven ground, the passenger side wheel travel up say 6 inches and the driver's side remains on level ground, there will be a binding action at the interface on the axle perches, links and u-bolts. I could see if the front link to frame was a hiem joint, this would provide for what I'm getting at but the pix don't indicate that. I think this an interesting suspension, easy to install, minimizes axle wrap and I would guess smoother than stock and adjustable ride height. Interesting to see if anyone has put one on a 4X4.

The AirLift Road Tamer system is very much like what is on Volvo big trucks. It is not designed for a lot of uneven ground, I think the issues you raise are valid. The front of the "Z" spring is in a relatively large rubber bushing in the frame bracket so there is some give there. When you jack up one side of a drive axle to change a tire there is not much deflection at the "stress" points you name but the lift is only a couple inches and the axle housing is longer due to the width of the vehicle.

Try researching the Granning air suspension. I just bought a used ( obsolete ) ambulance with this system. Looks great and only has the trailing arms with the bags aft of the axle. Will be moving this unit to a 96 350 PSD. I thought I was the only one interested in air-ride as no one else would even answer over on OIL-BURNER. Thanks in advance for all info. Are we ahead of our time?

I've been using the Kelderman system for a while myself. I added an auto adjust valve so I don't have to reset anything when the load changes.

LINK TO ROAD TAMER

LINK TO SUPPLIER OF MULTIPLE AIR RIDE SYSTEMS

If you scroll down to the air ride suspensions area they have more than one, including the Reyco/Granning referred to earlier.

Personally I prefer the simpler Road tamer. The Talon has four pivot points on each side (top and bottom of shackle, just in front of air bag and front of locator arm). The Road Tamer has just one on each side. Fewer pivot points means a more stable suspension plus the Road Tamer is very similar to the "Z" springs used on big trucks. It is a proven engineering design.
