I would get in touch with the suppliers and see if they can order one for the OBS - many things are not listed but are available for the older trucks, it just takes a bit of digging to find them.

The point about SD springs is a good one as well, my bet is with minimal modificaitons (maybe as simple as installing the correct spring mounts on the frame in place of the original ones) it could be made to work fine.

How about simply taking several leafs out of your stock spring pack and installing a AIR Helper Spring setup?(Like Firestone or AirLift)
You could get the smooth ride from reduced springs while maintaining the capacity by pumping the bag pressure up...

Just a thought...

my goal here is actual air ride not a half breed kit ( sorry to be blunt about it but that way seems kind of redneckish ) by going that way i would lose pay load

I CAN NOT STRESS HOW SORRY I AM ABOUT BEING BLUNT AND TO THE POINT I DO APPRECIATE THE INPUT THOUGH

I talked with a truck suspension company my last employer did business with about this very plan. They said it would work fine. I would need new (and possibly shorter) U-bolts. They said to make sure I did not run out of thread before getting the axle clamped to the now thinner spring pack. The more leafs you remove the softer the ride. Keep the air bags inflated to at least 10 psi (or whatever the manufacturer recommends) when empty, increase when you load her down.

The air assist springs would return the load capacity (most manufacturers claim 5000# of capacity on their air springs) so as long as I did not reduce the factory spring pack capability below 1500# I would stay level or increase the spring capability with the modification. It is my understanding the main spring leaf by itself is well over that so there is no loss there.

I have not done it yet, am currently unemployed and probably will not until re-employed.

This would be probably a $300 total part cost and a couple hours in the shop, even for a do-it-yourselfer like me. Much cheaper than a full goose air ride kit, although not as technically advanced and most likely not quite as good a ride.

This is not the way to do it. You will have axle wrap issues front or back if you do it like this. For the rear there are a few options all around 2k. For the front there is nothing. I am building my own using 05 radius arms and firestone air springs. Cost is around $700.00 but its a bit of work for a F250.

Watts link has nothing to do with axle wrap, it simply controls side to side motion of the axle. Its so simple to make up some type of bar to eliminate axle wrap, if you have the equipment then do it yourself. Longer is better.

Search the local yards where you are for a 95-97 F350 ambulance. Many of these had the air-ride suspension complete with leveling valves. Most yards will sell them for almost nothing as they are not aware of the real value. I purchased the whole ambulance with a running 7.3 for about what the suspension will cost new. This way I get every piece plus the rest of truck. Only problem is the ambulance will probably be geared very low( mine has 4.63 ) and a Dana 80.

i do understand watts linkage has nothing to do with that i guess i kinda did not explain what i was doing in that question by trac bar i meant something to keep the diff centered in the truck SORRY FOR CONFUSION THERE ( keeping the diff centred in truck)

as far as axle wrap i have a system idea that should eliminate axle wrap from the truck my race car chassis buddy agree's it should work the only way to tell will be to build it and try it

Hey dr...

Why not a big heim joint that is what I was thinking. Then there should be no binding as I had mentioned earlier and you will have a very solid link to the front spring hanger. I think a Z link to the front spring hanger should be pretty staright forward and will eliminate axle wrap.

Take pix and keep posting....

cool...

Poly bushings are not effected by oil and dont really dry rot but they do distort and split. I have used poly bushings in many locations were the factory bushings outlasted them by far. I would try and use a OEM bushing in the arms, even if they are spring bushings. That small amount of rubber will help absorb shock and vibration. And if this is the truck you haul that camper with then i would think you want comfort on long hauls.
By Z link are you talking about 2 parallel bars going forward and then a nother bar at a 45' between them, like the rear suspension of most drag racers? If that is what you are talking about i dont know how it even fit up front and strength would scare the hell out of me. Why not the topical radius arm with track bar. Its proven and works well.
