If it were my rig, I would use and alarm with aux inputs, and use a magnetic window or door break unit. You can get them at most home stores or Radio Shack. They mount easily with one magnet on the tailgate and the electrical sensing unit in the bed. You can have one for the gate and one for the topper hatch lid. Tie them in together and both of them will set off the alarm when either is open. I have had expensive Alpine alarm with the motion sensor, and they are hard to set not to be too sensative, ie someone walks by, or not sensative enough. Just my .02 on the subject.
