aloha: alarm & chips...

Aloha Folks,
This might seem like a dump question but I wanted to ask you what alarms work well with the 94~97F250's? I have a Clifford in my current vehicle right now that has the remote lock/unlock feature as well as starter cut off so that the perp. cannot try to hotwire the vehicle. The one thing that I do not want to do is have someone install an alarm and screw up the electronics. So, any suggestions would be great. Also, can you have an alarm monitor the back tailgate area? The vehicle I am looking to buy has a camper shell on it that is why I ask?

Lastly, for economy (better gas mileage), some performance (better than stock Ford specs), reliability and light towing does TWildman make a chip for this and what would it cost approx? Thank you in advance and look forward to the advice.
Mahalo

Re: aloha: alarm & chips...

For the alarm thing, you can get an alarm that will monitor any motion around the truck or you can put a door pin on the tailgate.
For the type dependes on your cash flow. I had a $650 alarm on my old ranger viper with the lcd screen pro installed and now i have a $130 i installed with the lcd screen and not as far as a rang but $500 less. Both work...\

The chip... i think your looking at atlease $350 and he can make it do what ever you want. Close to it anyway.

Hope this helps Jordan

oh ebay for the alarm i bought let me know if you want more on it

Re: aloha: alarm & chips...

If it were my rig, I would use and alarm with aux inputs, and use a magnetic window or door break unit. You can get them at most home stores or Radio Shack. They mount easily with one magnet on the tailgate and the electrical sensing unit in the bed. You can have one for the gate and one for the topper hatch lid. Tie them in together and both of them will set off the alarm when either is open. I have had expensive Alpine alarm with the motion sensor, and they are hard to set not to be too sensative, ie someone walks by, or not sensative enough. Just my .02 on the subject. On Wildmans tuning. You will find every penny of the 350.00 worth it the first time you drive it with your new found power. Love mine!!! COlin

Re: aloha: alarm & chips...

Here

Mine

I didnt go with the remote start.

The only problem i have is sometimes Once a week if that it wont get a proper singnal and will say a door is open but my room is in the basement too. It has a lifetime warr. For what i paid i think it is well worth it. To change the programming you can do it as apposed to my viper 791XV i had to take it to the dealer everytime i wanted the sensativity changed or the chirp setting. I like it...
