Am I supposed to be able to get my nuts off with my fingers?

My spindle nuts were just finger tight is that normal? I am overhaulin the front end...it won't stop at this point. Now my rotors are cracked. Do I buy the drilled slotted from Napa? Will they make a difference for the extra $$. Autozone has rotors for $42.99 are they any good? It's a money pit at this point..help.

only if you have a gentle touch! Back nut off 1/2 round. Tighten to 20 foot lbs. I'll look in the cd manuel for the four wheel drive....Haven't tried the a-zone rotors, but thier brake stuff scares me. Does napa have stock replacements? I seem to remember folks posting they have had good luck with them....

IN EDIT: Larry, while rotating the assembly, tighten the hub nut to 50 foot lbs. back nut off 90 degrees (1/4 turn) retighten to 16 ft. lbs.....you can tighten farther to get the lock key in....

Re: Am I supposed to be able to get my nuts off with my fingers?

A-zone and Advance rotors are inferior to NAPA, they have a higher silicon content in the casting, which is cheaper and also less friction. A local engine builder/drag racer built a turn-key drivetrain for a drag racer, after the build they could not get it to stop safely, put gauges on the master cylinder and according to Wilwood they were in spec for pessures, someone suggested asking the customer where he purchased the rotors. Turned out to be A-zone, swapped the rotors for NAPA units and it will now slide the front tires at 50 mph if they wish. Just their experiances, yours may vary.

That is a question you're going to have to answer without my help. I've never actually had mine off so I'm not sure how you go about it but I can say that I hope I never get to the point where I actually have to contemplate taking them off.... It seems like at the very least, it would mess up your balance or something........
