Only weight listed on registration in IL & WI, the two states I've licensed vehicles in is the max. legal licensed weight. Not sure about Your state but I KNOW those two could care less what Your vehicle weighs as long as it's LESS than the licensed max. weight. And they also don't care if Your loading causes tires or axles to be overloaded as long as Your still under You max. licensed weight.

My old CC dually with the IDI weighed right at 6400. I didn't keep a bunch of tools or junk in there though.

Ok,
For those inquiring minds......
Just had the truck weighed this morning at the CAT certified scales. The truck was FULL of fuel, with just me and is a crew cab short bed. I've converted the stock 250 to Dana 60 with RSK, added rear sway bar, and have a "roll-n-lock" bed cover installed on the truck. So here are the weights:
Steer axle- 4100 lbs.
Drive axle- 3020 lbs.
Gross Weight- 7120 lbs.
Cost me- $8.50
