I have a set of AA's and the clearance is all between .002-.003. But dont know if this is good or not.

Re: armuture clearance

Minimum is .0015" for the injector to function. I think new spec is .004". Last time I checked mine all were .003 and more so I'm good at 130k. As long as you keep your oil changed with oil that meets our requirements I can't see extreme wear on a stock injector poppet unless you have a chip that beats the crap out of it or you have a ton o miles. You could have a poppet screw back out and cause too much clearance though, same effect, just an easier fix.

Re: armuture clearance

Your correct JDBones.

I resently tore into a set with just over 200k on them with poppet clearance at .003" on all of them. So yes i believe good oil is the factor.

On the same note i have also had two set with only 75k on each of them, that had worse than the higher milage sets clearance.

The little square plate underneath the solonoid on the injector. injector parts scroll down a bit and you will see it.

Re: armuture clearance

pardom my stupidity but you guy are saying that you have to gap the space inbetween the armature and the injecter or the armature and the solenoid because i just tighten the armature srcrews snug so should i remove the valve cover and re gap them or just drive it and forget it

Re: armuture clearance

No, there's no gaping them. If the clearance is less then .0015 its time for a rebuild.
