Babies and Intercooler question

Does anyone run babies without an intercooler? How are the temps? Do you tow with them and if so...how are the temps then? Thanks

Re: Babies and Intercooler question

I have been running them for over a year without an intercooler towing fairly heavy 18-24k. I run Bill's Extreme program all the time, and have no problems. My right foot controls the heat, If i keep boost at around 20 psi i can maintain 65-70mph no sweat on some of the biggest hills.

Re: Babies and Intercooler question

i've been runnin my stage 1's without a inter-cooler, temps are manageable, but you have to watch them. in my tow mode it'll go up to 1100 pretty quick but tend to level out, if i run my race program it'll keep climbing until i back off the throttle a little, in my extreme program there's not a chance of towing. i have a intercooler that i'm going to install though just to help keep temps down a little.

Re: Babies and Intercooler question

I've been running the babies w/out an intercooler and have towed a few times, as said before you have to adjust egt's with your right foot! I think I am going to try and get an intercooler this summer to help out a little. The babies are bye far the best investment I've made for the truck!! Re: Babies and Intercooler question

Same here,
Babies and no intercooler. Can control with right foot but have come upon across several times it would have been good to have one. I have seen 1475 on a few times for less than a minute. I have a TWildman 4 pos chip. The 1475 was on the dyno burn pulling the 5th wheel in my sig. I also have been able to set an CEL several times but not as much lately. I still can not get over 30 psi of boost no matter how hard I rev and how large of a load I am pulling. It hits about 27 then just drops off big time. Don't know if I really want to be boosting the stock turbo up to 30 very much as I am sure that the thrust bearing would not take it for long. Would rather spend money on hopped up HPOP than a turbo.

Re: Babies and Intercooler question

Last weekend we had a friends truck loaded with 5 quads and a pretty heavy 22' trailr and pulling some hills it was way to hot. Couldn't use all the power. However this was on a very hot and smokely extreem program. I think with a different program it would have been fine. With the babies especially it is all in the programming. They will work good without an intercooler but to be able to tow with them up to their potential you will need one.

Re: Babies and Intercooler question

See sig. No intercooler, and new babies. I will be looking for a intercooler when $$ allow (mainly after my impala project is done in a few weeks). Have towed a few things, and a few heavy things. All I can have the chip on is first hp setting. Otherwise temps head above 1300.

It will work, but as stated a few times already you have to pay attention. For what a used IC set-upp costs it would be a wise investment, but get the babies first because a IC dosean't require a babies, however babies need the IC.

Re: Babies and Intercooler question

My hot program is a Bill's burn specifically for Babies. With light (4000lbs) or less, the truck runs cooler with this burn than stock or the other Bill's burns not specifically for babies. Go figure.
