Baby Swamps vs. Stage ones

I've been looking at upgrading the injectors on my 97 F350 and just looking for some input from guys that have ran either the Baby Swamps or Stage Ones. I have a DP tuner already that I would send in for a reburn, also have an AFE intake, bigger down pipe, and gauges to monitor everything. What kind of realistic power gains am I looking at? Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I was blown away with the difference when I installed the baby swamps with their tunes on a TS chip, night and day. To be honest the truck is plenty fast now, I have a hard time believing stage 2's would be warranted, I'm already lifting on the on-ramps. I've yet to dyno mine, but per Swamps website they claim 340 rwhp is readily achieved, with supporting mods of course. I would try to have bigger oil installed before the injectors (Adrenaline or SRP1), and towing may be a problem EGT-wise without an intercooler.

Get stage 1's from Cass...or a dealer...they are 160cc or 10cc more...plus come with new nozzles...same cost.

The new nozzels sounded attractive but Swamps offers a 5 year, 200K mile warranty, whereas Cass is 18months. That is what pushed me towards Swamps.

An intercooler will be down the road, I'm not pulling any big loads right now just hauling the toys around once in awhile. So I should be able to keep EGT's down. When you say upgrade the oil do you mean new HPOP or what? If I go the Stage one route what would be a good injector to go with, I tried searching injectors from Cass but I didn't find anything.

The warranty is definitely a plus! Leaning towards swamps for that reason. Anyone else that has ran swamps? Input would appreciated

I put Babys on my 96 and love them. I believe Stage 1s are Babys. Dave at Swamps is great to work with and that is priceless as far as I am concerned. If you have questions just call, they will help you get the answers you need without trying to sell you anything.
The EGT's are manageable if you have gauges and keep the chip flipped to tow mode when pulling. I have a 20' enclosed that I pull with 2 dune buggies and four wheelers, etc. and there is not any issue keeping below 1350 F. when going through big hills.

We are a dealer for Full Force Diesel and to current DP Tuner customers already running our tuning, we offer free reburns for performance injectors if they are purchased directly through us. Not sure if this helps persuade you in either direction, but please let us know if we can help...

If I'm not mistaken Cass = Full Force Diesel, and yes, oil = HPOP.

thanks guys, I'm going to do a little more research and talk to the guys at swamps and see what I can work out. I'm liking the warranty that goes with the swamps.

I received my full force stage 1's and BTS from CT Performance and it was night and day difference once I got everything installed. I had the TS chip reburned and have been enjoying it ever since. You won't be disappointed - only suggestion would be to make sure and get an economy setting on your tuner b/c you fule mileage will suffer.

I'd really like to put baby swamps in my truck, I was just wondering if there is anyway to push the babies to 400rwhp? Id really like to hit the 400hp mark and leave the truck alone for awhile. I know swamps says they are capable of 340hp, what have other people hit with relatively simple set ups and not so simple set ups?

I highly doubt it. Does it help knowing it's around 400 hp at the flywheel? What is your primary reason for sticking with the babies and/or stage 1's? If it's cost, then so be it, but regardless the only way to make hp is more fuel, which equals more volume, and the FIRST thing to go is the stock turbo. So IMHO, if you stick with babies or stage 1's you're set turbo-wise and longevity, otherwise get out the checkbook... I think alot of people get hung up on the numbers, seat-o-pants feel at 340 will leave you smiling!

Thanks, thats what I was looking to hear. For me its a cost thing and reliability thing. Truck gets used for towing (nothing crazy, 10k is rare) and commuting (not the ideal commuter haha). I have some money I want to spend on the truck and baby swamps seem like the most bang for the buck. Maybe a turbo to go with them. Whats a good turbo to match with these injectors? I know this question is subjective, but what kind of 1/4 mile times would baby swamps and a turbo produce?

This is what I was trying to drive home, the reason for going with the babies would be to keep the stock trubo. If you're looking to upgrade then I'd consider some stage 2's or Hybrids instead. I REALLY like the S366 Irate group buy, 2k and it comes with everything (intercooler piping, bellowed up-pipes) all in stainless. The IH bellowed up-pipes alone are now selling for $800 and are mild steel. Plus with that setup you have the option of upgrading the turbo again if need be.
