Re: BANKS Power pack should i buy it?

it's not worth it just get a chip from DP tuner and have more hp than you would in the banks system. for that price you can get a set of injectors and down pipe and a chip for less and have over 350hp

Re: BANKS Power pack should i buy it?

Gonna have to agree, Banks is quality but still not worth the prices they want for it, you can piece together a whole kit for way less then that...

The key to saving money is the intercooler. The cheapest 'kit' out there is the GTS Motorsports Intercooler Install Kit for about $600. Add another $200-250 for the actual intercooler and you're looking at $800. The Banks/Hypermax intercooler goes for $1,200-1,400. Get an MBRP turbo-back 4" exhuast (3" at the turbo to 4" just after the downpipe for roughly $350. You don't need a separate transmission controller so another $350 for an adjustable chip. Gauges are about (surprise) $350 and then about $150 for a 1.0 A/R exhaust housing for the turbocharger. Add all that up and you're looking at right at $2,000. Which, if you don't get the 1.0 A/R exhaust housing, you can get a nice set of Stage 1 injectors and all that other stuff for approximately the same price as the Banks PowerPack. You'll have more power and your grin will be much, much bigger.

Keep in mind, all the prices quoted are rough estimates that don't even take into account package deals offered by some vendors. Shop around and see what sort of package deals are available.

Cheers from Tulsa, OK!

Re: BANKS Power pack should i buy it?

no way A 1.0 houseing from dale I is 135.00 from banks you will get a single bank chip for 450 from Dp tuner you will get a 6 pos chip for the same. you can get a down pipe from dale I for 150 i think. and banks does not supply the whole ehaust just the dp and the tale pipe your muffler is stock. ok now the IC you can do your own kit for cheaper. I have a banks IC and banks pipe kit and i'm just under 1000 bucks and banks IC kit is 1600 bucks. Now banks dynafact gauges and not very good for what the cost is you can get a set of isspro for less and have them in the piller for the same $$$ banks want for the same cheap looking gauges. and unless you have a 97 cali truck you will not get over 60hp more at the rear wheels . Give dale I a call and you will same some $$$

Re: BANKS Power pack should i buy it?

i dont think it will even be close to near that at the wheels. if it was we would all have this package trust me. also all banks #'s posted on there site come from 97 california trucks that have 130cc injectors.(so i have heard)

please dont BUY that you will be disappointed.

injectors 1000
chip 350
gauges 250
intake 50-200
exhaust 400

you will actually put down 300+ at the wheels with this stuff. just hang out a little while. lots of folks will say the same thing.

Re: BANKS Power pack should i buy it?

I had the stinger plus and ALLLLLLL of it is gone!! Like they said you can do much better for less. Their kit does NOT include a FULL exhaust only two pieces- downpipe and tailpipe no center section and muffler.

A chip from Tony Wildman may be more but you get a whole lot more. Theirs is one position and Tony's is 1,2,3,4 or 6 but with a fairly stock truck you don't need that many. I am happy with 4 and that is overkill.

Dave, I think Banks sells the pipe kit seperately for a fair price.

Re: BANKS Power pack should i buy it?

Their are a couple big issues here:
The gains are only theroretically possible on a Cali truck which I bet you do not have.
The trans controller is crap and prone to failure.
The turbo housing is less than 150 bucks shipped from Dale I, I just got one.
Their chip does not give you the most amount of power possible and can not be custom tuned.
The down pipe as I remember has a post turbo EGT port which is bad too.
The full exhaust is a 3.5 inch mandrel bent tail pipe and a 3 inch down pipe. They are both stainless but all we need is aluminized steel.

The only thing worth getting from them is the IC.

Re: BANKS Power pack should i buy it?

are you nuts????
answer is NO in really big letters, hell a weekend trip over to Swamps in TN would net you 325 HP, which is 100 over anythign Banks could ever give you, plus at least 200 more ftlbs of TQ over Banks for about the same money!!!!!, do an IC kit yourself, they are easy to find on Ebay.

Re: BANKS Power pack should i buy it?

All I have left of a powerpack is the intercooler (which is good but expensive) and the 1.0 turbo housing. The rest is in the trash pile replaced with stuff from vendors on this site. I have a California truck and the results with the powerpack were not impressive. My current setup will smoke any 7.3 Banks powerpack equipped truck out there both towing and dragging and can be duplicated for nearly the same cost at today's prices. (Except for the BTS)

Re: BANKS Power pack should i buy it?

Don't do it. just like many others, I purchased the Banks Power Pack for my truck, and that was before I found this site. The only thing still on my truck is the IC and housing. You will do much better buying from vendors on this site, and much better power. I dynoed mine after my stuff was installed, and the best I could get was about 60hp over stock @ the rear wheels. There is no way you will hit the #'s they are quoting you unless you get bigger injectors....................Dave
