banks system on 95

I installed a banks powerpack on my brother in laws 95. it also came with a transloader which i installed. the problem i am having is that in driving down the interstate, it always seems like it needs to shift into high gear. I am not that familiar with driving his truck, but it turns about 2800 at 80. It has standard siae tires and i think a 3.73. Whatever ger came stack. I clicked the overdrive button and it is functioning properly. Anyone seen a problem like this???

Re: banks system on 95

The only rear end option was 4.10. As far as 2800 RPMs at 80 that isn't quit normal. I hit 80 at about 2400 RPMs in my truck.

Re: banks system on 95

When you said Transloader did you mean Transcommand? My Transcommand came with a bypass plug, If you have one of those, I'd plug it in and see if your trans module is bad.

Yes, i meant the command, i will try the plug. I know my 05 with banks has much more power, but his 95 is just sick.

Re: banks system on 95

Depending on tire size, 2800 at 80 sounds resonable for a 4.10 rear end. The truck in my signature turns just about 2500 at 70 with 33's and 2250 or so at 70 with 35's.

3:55's were also an option. door code 39 for an open or C9 for limited slip.

sounds like normal RPM for 4:10's. 4:10's are not ment to go 100 mph, you need 3:55's for that.

Re: banks system on 95

I agree with that. The top end on the 3.55's was much better than the 4.10's, but I like the take off a whole lot better as well as overall throttle response. Besides 100MPH tickets are very espensive...I have some experience with the 88 in 55 zone for racing a KR SD. Oh well it was worth the look on his face!!!

Re: banks system on 95

I was also wondering if anyone had this system, and how loud it was. His is extremely loud, I have checked over and over for an exhaust leak and cannot find one, but it is way louder than before

Re: banks system on 95

When I still had the banks exhaust it was much quieter than what I have now. Your noise may be from the up-pipes, as the turbo would have been off to change out the exhaust housing - check the doughnut gaskets for soot. Another place to check is the downpipe to transmission clearance. If a muffler clamp was used to secure the two halves, (vs. a band clamp) the muffler clamp may very well be contacting the transmission while under load - it's a drone that will drive you crazy.

Re: banks system on 95

thanks, i will check that.....i do not recall any donought gaskets though.. I had a v clamp on the turbo outlet, and then the downpipe went down and attached to the cat section. Where is the donuts you are talking about????? One thing i do know is that the clearance on the downpipe between the tunnel/firewall was extremely tight. You think this would be a drone?????

Re: banks system on 95

If that downpipe ever touches anything other than air you will transfer vibration(noise) right into your cab. Get a porta-power and make yourself some clearance, you wont be sorry.

Re: banks system on 95

definitely the down pipe resonation. it can not be touching the body. even properly installed, these early trucks do resonate loudly inside from the hi-perf round downpipes a lot more than the newer trucks with room for these.

I put in floor, door and firewall sound insulation. it helps some, but 4.10's at interstate speeds are musclecar loud.
