I recently purchased a '96 CC F350. I am wanting to move the batteries from the engine bay for aesthetics and am thinking of using the space for other things. I eventually will be taking it to the track. My question is first anyone who has plans for a battery relocate tray that bolts to the frame and is willing to share, would love to see what you have.
More importantly - what would it take to get it to pass inspection?
Appreciate any insight.
Sam

There is a thread going in this same section of the forum and the guy that started it has relocated them to the frame, either post on that thread or PM him, some others and relocated as well....
easy, look at any Ford cube van they are mounted on teh frame, so jsut buy 2 of those and some welding cable.

Thank you for the replies. I had saw his setup, and like it. I will post the question over there, but I didn't want to hijack his thread. I wanted to find out if anyone specifically has any experience relocating them and then drag racing them. It has been a year and a half since I have been to Bandimere, but I don't think the batteries as he has them would pass inspection. I seem to remember something about if the battery is relocated has to be in a sealed box or something along those lines. Does anyone know DHRA inspection rules when it comes to battery relocation?
Thank you
Sam

I'm not sure about DHRA, but for IHRA / NHRA it has to be in a completely sealed box vented to the outside only if it's in the interior of the vehicle, like in the back of a hatchback fox body mustang for example.
I believe mounting onto the frame which is outside the cabin of the vehicle they'd let you get away without putting them in a sealed box, however, there maybe a requirement for a non metallic cover so that the possibility of arcing / shorting across the terminals is eliminated.
Obviously check a rulebook online if you can find one, or possibly email / call a judge in that sactioning body...
