Biggest tires on 16X10 wheels?

Subject says it all. I have a new set of Eagle Alloy 16X10 and im wondering if 285/75 tires will fit alright? If not i can make someone a heck of a deal on them. -Shane

Re: Biggest tires on 16X10 wheels?

I think it will push the sidewall of the tire out too far.

Re: Biggest tires on 16X10 wheels?

matt,

I think you have right idea, thats why im leary on mounting them. The tires are less than a month old and i made a stupid mistake when i ordered the wheels. Thanks for your input though.

Re: Biggest tires on 16X10 wheels?

sorry guys, i disagree! i actually ran a set of 351/75-16 buckshots on Pacer 16x10 alloys and i couldnt have been happier! they filled out perfectly and really made the truck sit just like i wanted!

in my experienced opinion 16x10 is the perfect size... if you go narrower you are taking chances of wearing the inner tread of your tires b/c the wheel pulls the tire closer together making the tread more round than flat!

off my soapbox, lol. if i can find a pic i'll post up.

EDIT... here is a pic of my PSD! http://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gall...71&width=0

Re: Biggest tires on 16X10 wheels?

Fishmann,

I understand what you are saying but you are running 315's and i have 285's. Thats a pretty decent size difference. I was told by a tire retailer that the 16X10's might be to wide for the 285's. Ive also had friends (with no tire experince, lol) tell me they will fit. Has anyone ever ran that combo?

Re: Biggest tires on 16X10 wheels?

you're right, i somehow overlooked the fact you wanted to run 285's. i still stand on the grounds, i think they will fit fine but i dont have any first hand knowledge. just dont know how they will look!

you're best bet is to go to some mom & pop tire shop and see if they have a 10" wheel they could put a 285/85 tire. its a long shot but thats definitely what i would do! in fact before i bought my buckshots i made the shop put one of them on a wheel and put the combo on my truck before i bought! i was not gonna spend $1000 in wheels and tires and not be happy!

happy huntin!

Re: Biggest tires on 16X10 wheels?

They will fit as thats what my friend has on his duramax and they look ok, i think my 16x10's are too wide for my MTR's but they work fine.

Re: Biggest tires on 16X10 wheels?

I think that the 16x10 expose too much of the weaker sidewall to the elements on my MTRs and i think the 285's would be alot worse.

Re: Biggest tires on 16X10 wheels?

I agree, I would not run 285's on 16x10 wheels. It will look like a mexican hoop-T with 8 inch wide tires on 12 inch wide wheels. If I can find a picture I'll post it.
